Paul lives in Lincolnshire, works from home, and is fascinated by fish.
Having studied Graphic Design at the Lincoln School of Art, Paul worked as a freelance designer before founding Palaeo Replicas in partnership with his wife Alethea. The company was primarily concerned with the fine replication of fossil material for museum display, research, and education. Through Palaeo Replicas, Paul's work was featured amongst leading collections in institutions, museums and universities throughout the UK, USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia and Japan.
A hopelessly addicted ‘fisher’ throughout, Paul has always drawn and painted fish.
Following a duration spent teaching Art, Paul began drawing upon his previous three dimensional work with fossils, to begin crafting fish in clay, and ultimately Bronze.
He considers rivers to be ‘mysterious’ places and fish to be ‘mysterious’ things - ‘inhabitants of another world into which we might only ever snatch the briefest of glimpses - perhaps the real challenge is not merely to capture a physical likeness, but moreover to capture a moment in time?’
